Canyon Spirit

Note: Left-click on the image to get a full view of this digital painting.

This digital painting by artist Wendy D. Stolyarov was inspired by the work of Alphonse Mucha. Mucha created numerous paintings of women meant to represent the seasons and other natural phenomena.  In this work, Mrs. Stolyarov placed a Mucha-esque canyon spirit figure in a setting that was inspired by the scenery of the Texas plains and Palo Duro Canyon. The painting was created in Adobe Photoshop and is stylistically similar to Mrs. Stolyarov’s earlier painting, “Eventide.”  The textures of the canyon spirit’s skin, clothing, and hair are particularly detailed. This piece also exhibits a strong vibrancy of color and incorporates many interesting shapes.
